For us it is a pleasure to make the Advanced Spanish immersion program available to you, on Saturdays. Designed specially for children who already have a base of the language.
True to our philosophy, children will be immersed in the Latin American language and culture, including science, geography and history, strengthening their cultural roots, and their love for the Spanish language. The curriculum has been created through multicultural experiences, STEAM project-based activities, and creative arts.
All our classes are taught by professional native Spanish teachers.
A maximum ratio of 10 students per teacher guarantees an individualized experience to gain proficiency on reading comprehension, writing with coherence and good grammar, listening and effective communication.

The World-Readiness Standards for Learning Languages
“The World-Readiness Standards for Learning Languages define the central role of world languages in the learning career of every student. The five goal areas of the Standards establish an inextricable link between communication and culture, which is applied in making connections and comparisons and in using this competence to be part of local and global communities.” (https://www.actfl.org)
Holistic approach of Latin American Culture and language:
An individual language speaker’s effectiveness in a foreign language is directly related to his/her understanding of the culture of that language (Taylor, 1979). Michuchutren’s curriculum is a journey through the different characteristics of Latino countries, their art, literature, gastronomy, geography, history and much more.
Experiential Learning:
Through the methodology of learning by doing, we have designed Engaging & Effective Learning Experiences for children to approach the language and the culture beyond the workbook. Experiential learning is an engaged learning process whereby students “learn by doing” and by reflecting on the experience. Experiential learning activities can include, but are not limited to, hands-on projects, experiments, creative arts, games and more.
The 4 C’s of 21st century skills
These four skills are essential for modern students to succeed in school and the workplace. Critical Thinking, Communication, Collaboration, and Creativity. A language is more than knowing a set of words, to be competent in the use of the language we need to stop focusing solely on developing language skills but also in creating a space to learn to use language and cultural knowledge as a means to connect to others around the globe.

The Michucuhtren Academy is created for a community concerned with promoting bilingualism and respect for diversity by teaching the Latin American language and culture.
Our purpose is to create a space for all families with Latino and Hispanic roots, where love for their language and hereditary roots are fostered. Where children learn to love and respect who they are and their multiculturalism.
A center for families who, although they do not have Latino roots, want their children to grow up with the opportunity to speak the third most spoken language in the world and the second most spoken in the United States, Spanish, also giving them the opportunity to understand the different Latino cultures and promoting in them, respect for diversity.
- Basic knowledge of the language needed: Children should understand and have previous exposure to the language. A simple interview will be conducted before the beginning of classes.
- Professional Native Spanish teachers: All classrooms will have a ratio of 10 kids per teacher, 20 kids per classroom max.
- Multiage approach: The classrooms are divided by similar language level and not per age, but all activities are created to promote collaboration and age-appropriate challenges.
- Experiential learning: The program is designed as an experiential learning experience where reading comprehension, writing skills, grammar and proper communication will be incorporated.

How To Register Your Child
We partnered with Fairfax City for registrations and payments. If spots are available, you can register anytime during the year and tuitions will be pro-rated. Registrations are done through Fairfax City´s registration platform. Once you click in our link, you will be sent to fairfax City CampDoc website. Create a profile for you and your child and search for Michuchutren’s programs.

The Academy is open from September to May following a school calendar.
Registrations are open through the whole year if spaces are available.
Tuition is pro-rated according to registration time.

Discounts can NOT be combined.
The registration fee is payed in full ( No matter the time of registering).

Does my child needs to know spanish?
Yes. The Academy is a program designed for children who already has basic understanding of the language.
Do you offer school tours?
We will be happy to provide a Tour for you and your family. Tours can only be given duirng the school year, starting in September. Please contact us by email or give us a call and we will be happy to schedule an appointment. Tours are available year-round, typically in the mornings.
Do you offer Food?
We do not provide food but children are encouraged to bring their own Nut-free snack
Is the annual registration fee or tuition refundable?
The registratiuon fee is no refundable, neither a month that has been already paid. If you decide to withdraw your child, we require a 2 week written notice, then, you will only be charged until the end of the notice.
How do you communicate with families?
We prioritize communication between families and the school. The more you are involved in your child’s process, trust the teachers and know what is going on, we can keep your child’s experiences consistent.
- We will have two teacher-parent assesment meeetings during the year school year to work together in goals and objectives specific to your child.
- A monthly newsletter is provided by email with information regarding themes, events, activities and tips.
- Closed Facebook group. This is a great way to build community and share between parents.
Can my child join once the year has started?
Yes, we accept enrollments throughout the year, space permitting. Tuition will be pro-rated.
Do you offer financial aid?
As partners of Fairfax City parks and rec programs, if you are a City resident, you may be able to apply for finacial aid through them. Financial aid is offered as a needs-based program. If interested please let us know and we will help you in the process.
